When was cinema, to me?

Films by release year, not viewing year — viewing dates are mostly backfilled from my account-creation import and aren't trustworthy at this scale. TMDB enrichment covers 656 of 746 watched entries; the other 90 are TV series or series episodes that don't resolve through TMDB's movie endpoint, so they drop out of director / runtime / language charts but stay in the decade and year counts.

By decade

Stacked by whether I've rated the film. The unrated layer is the long tail — films I logged without forming an opinion strong enough to put a number on.

Year by year

Same data, finer grain. The 2010s–2020s dominate, but there's a long thin tail running back through the 20th century.

Runtime

Enriched films only. The mode sits right around the 100-minute feature length; the right tail is epics and a handful of three-hour ambitions.

Top directors

By film count, not rating. Labels show number of films — the second number, in gold, is how many of those I've actually rated.

Language and country

Two-level treemap — languages are the groupings, countries are the cells inside. Area is number of films. My cinema is overwhelmingly English-language, mostly American, but the non-English cells tell you where the rest of my attention has gone.

Each country is tagged by its TMDB-reported origin. Co-productions show the lead producing country only. Hover a cell for the full label.
